Club Constitution
Crusaders Football Club Constitution
1. The name of the club shall be Crusaders Football Club (hereafter referred to as The Club).
2 The object to the club shall be the organisation, promotion and playing of association football and the promotion of social, cultural and education activities with the aims and ideals and rules of the Football Association of Ireland.
3 The colours of the club shall be red and blue.
4 Membership of the club is open to any person who subscribes to the rules and ideals of the club and who on application is admitted to membership by a simple majority vote of the clubs general committee and who shall pay.
5 The general committee may admit to membership of the clubs social centre and amenities at Whitfield, the families of the members, the parents of the members and other persons who shall be proposed and seconded by two existing members and other persons who shall be proposed and seconded by two existing club members.
6 On the election of any member, the secretary shall forthwith notify such member thereof and furnish him or her a copy of the rules together with membership card and such member on paying the first yearly subscription shall be deemed thereby to have submitted to the rules of the club for all purposes. Pending such payment, the new member shall not be entitled to enjoy the use or privileges or facilities of the club and the election shall become void one month after such member shall have the election notice if payment of subscription has not been received by the Treasurer.
7 Honorary Membership of the club may be conferred at the discretion of the general committee.
8 The privileges of membership of the club shall include the use of all the facilities of the club subject to a section or to the provision of these rules and special rules appertaining to a section or to the use of equipment or facilities.
9 The facilities of the club may be made available to kindred bodies on conditions determined by the general committee and at the discretion of the general committee.
10 If any member wilfully refuses or neglects to comply with the rules or byelaws of the club or shall be guilty of any conduct unworthy of a member of the club as the case may be, or detrimental to or likely to endanger the welfare of the good order of the club, such a member may be liable to expulsion by a resolution of the general committee, provide that at least one week before the meeting at which such resolution is passed he or she shall have had notice thereof and of the intended resolution of his or her expulsion have had an opportunity of giving orally or in writing an explanation of defence he or she shall think fit.
11 Any member wishing to resign membership shall give notice in writing to the secretary before the 1st day in any year failing which such member shall be liable to pay the subscription for the current year.
12 The general committee in the event of the event of the of the membership of the club in their opinion greater than the facilities of the club at the time being catered for may suspend for a period, admission of persons to any class or classes of membership.
Premises
13 The club premises are situated at Whitfield in the county of Waterford
Subscriptions
14 All subscriptions and fees (if any) shall be payable during the current playing season in a manner acceptable to the committee.
15 The general committee may at its discretion from time to time, offer life membership at a price to be fixed by the general committee. Persons who subscribe to Life membership of the club shall thereafter be exempt from paying any subscriptions whatsoever and shall be entitled to all the rights and privileges of the ordinary members of the club
16 Any member who falls into arrears by more than 4 weeks in any current season shall stand suspended from all club activities and facilities but may be reinstated by the executive committee on payment of all due subscriptions
17 The general committee shall have the power to accept an apportioned subscription for persons elected to membership in the course of any year.
18 The general committee shall have the power at its discretion to post in the premises of the club a list of members on or after the 1st December in each year, specifying those whose subscriptions for the current year have been paid
19 The general committee shall have the power at its discretion to alter or increase the annual subscription of its members. Subscription fees may vary from different classes of members according to the discretion of the general committee. All members of the club shall be notified in writing of any increase or decrease in the subscription fee one month before the same comes into operation.
20 The general committee shall have the power to suspend for a time or to mitigate the liability of any member whose subscription is in arrears by reason of illness or for any other reason deemed sufficient by them.
Committee of Management and Affairs
21 The general committee shall be the officers and at least four members of the club.
22 The officers of the club shall consist of the Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer.
23 The quorum necessary for the transaction of the business of the general committee shall be four.
24 The general committee may meet and adjourn as it thinks proper. Notice of each meeting shall be communicated to each member of the general committee and/or displayed at the clubs premises at Whitfield as the general committee sees fit. Questions arising at any meetings shall be determined by a simple majority of votes of the members present and the chairman shall have the casting vote when there is an equality of votes. In the event that the Chairman’s absence any meeting shall be chaired by any other member of the general committee.
25 The general committee shall have the power to appoint the selectors of the various teams representing the club and the appointment and number of the selectors shall solely be at the discretion of the general committee.
26 The general committee shall have the power to appoint the Vice captains of the various teams representing the club.
27 The general committee shall have the power to appoint any sub committee as it sees fit and also any other officers of the club as it thinks fit including the Public Relations Officer.
28 No decision made by a meeting of the general committee shall be set aside or altered at a subsequent meeting save on a motion supported by no fewer than two thirds of those present and entitled to vote.
29 The general committee shall fill vacancies among officers or committee members as such vacancies occur.
30 The general committee shall have the responsibility of looking after the entire management of the property, funds and affairs of the club.
31 The general committee shall cause proper books of Account to be kept relating to:-
A) All sues of money received and expended by the club and the matters in respect of which the receipts and expenditure takes place.
B) All sales and purchases of goods by the club
C) All assets and liabilities of the club
32 In addition to the powers heretofore refereed to the general committee shall have the power to: -
A appoint employees on such terms as appear proper and to terminate such appointments
B to borrow money for the club purposes and also to secure payment thereof
C to operate social functions for the benefit of the club
D to receive, investigate, deal with and decide complaints provided that these have been submitted in writing and signed.
33 The general committee shall appoint at least three trustees to hold the club property in trust for the club. A trustee once appointed shall hold office until his death or resignation or removal from office by resolution of said committee.
34 The trustees of the club shall have the power to borrow money for the club purposes and to secure the payment thereof.
35 The general committee shall have power from time to time to make, alter and repeal all such bye laws as they deem necessary or expedient or convenient for the proper conduct and management of the club. Provided nevertheless that no byelaw shall be inconsistent with the rules of the club and that any byelaw made be set aside by a special resolution of a general meeting of the club.
36 The general committee shall be invested with power to carry on any other functions which are necessary for the day t day running of the club and which are in the best interests of the club
General Meeting
37 The annual general meeting shall be held in the month of July
A) All members shall be notified of the date of the meeting at least 14 days before the holding of that meeting
B) All officers of the club and members of the general committee shall be elected at the annual general meeting
C) The annual general meeting shall received the secretary’s annual report and the treasurers statement of accounts and balance sheet and appoint an hon. Auditor to audit the accounts for the current year.
D) Notices of motions to be brought forward at this meeting must be sent to the secretary at least seven days before the meeting. Other business may be introduced with the approval of the executive committee or the Chairman.
E) All decisions shall be arrived at by a simple majority of Members present and voting. In the case of an equality of votes, the Chairman may have a second or deciding vote. Provided also, that in the case of the alteration of these rules, the resolution embodying any such alterations shall require a majority of two thirds of the members present and voting thereon before being passed.
38 A special general meeting may be summoned by the general committee or on a requisition signed by no fewer than ten members of the club. The only business to be transacted at such meeting shall be the business foe which it is summoned. Members shall receive at least five days notice of the time and place of such meeting and of the special business to be transacted.
39 The quorum necessary for the transaction of business of a general meeting shall be ten.
40 All notices calling meetings of members at their addresses as recorded in the book of the club. The accidental omission to give notice to any member entitled thereto shall not invalidate the proceedings at the meeting. Any notice sent by post shall be deemed to have been received by the end of 24 hours after it was posted.
